A buffalo-rearing farmer said that the disease spread for the past two weeks has killed three buffaloes in Dekhatbhuli and remaining in Krishnapur VDC.

A local Keshav Raj Joshi said that symptoms of the disease are the buffaloes not eating grass or hay, difficulty in excreting, trembling, salivating and falling on the ground.

The symptoms were seen on most of the pregnant buffaloes, said Joshi.

Local farmers said that over three dozen buffaloes died due to the disease and the farmers of the area are worried after buffaloes started to die.

Technicians at the District Livestock Services Office have suggested not to give grass brought from the forest areas to the buffaloes, Joshi added.

Farmers said the problem remains intact even if they stopped giving grass brought from the forest area to the buffaloes, and they have complained that the Office did not take any initiative to control the disease.

Information Officer at the District Livestock Services Office, Kanchanpur, Shankardutta Joshi said a technical team has been mobilized to control the disease.
