KATHMANDU, March 16: On the occasion of the 116th International Women’s Day, 10 influential women were honored in Kathmandu for their contributions across diverse fields. The recognition and felicitation program was organized by the Housewives Women Association Nepal, with support from Kathmandu World School and the Plaza, celebrating some of the country’s most prominent female personalities.
The honorees included Shova Gyawali (women entrepreneur), Anuradha Sharma (children’s literature), Bandana Lamsal (experienced banker), Dr. Kundu Yangzom (senior obstetrician and gynecologist), Priyanka Karki (actress), Sachita Budhathoki (journalist), Shristi Singh Bhandari (animal welfare activist), Usha Pandey (lawyer), Shrijana Adhikari (international referee), and Dr. Trishala Gurung (singer/DJ).

Speaking at the event, Gyawali, chair of Nepal Republic Media, emphasized the need to encourage women across the country to move forward and highlighted the importance of economic empowerment. She stressed society’s responsibility to acknowledge women’s invaluable contributions with pride.
Chief guest Chadani Joshi, reflecting on her 60 years of experience, noted that while women’s living standards have improved over time, many women still face disadvantages. She called for continued efforts to support women in raising their voices and securing their rights.
