KATHMANDU, March 15: The government has decided to receive the report of the probe committee formed to investigate the Gen-Z protests held on September 8 and 9.
Government spokesperson and Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal said the decision was taken during a meeting of the Council of Ministers of Nepal on Sunday.
The government had formed the Karki Commission under the leadership of former justice Gauri Bahadur Karki to investigate the incidents related to the protests. The commission has already submitted its report to the government.
Ruling parties not to receive local commission's report for now
According to Aryal, the cabinet decided to receive the report for further study.
The meeting also decided to accept a grant assistance of $24,267,427 from the Green Climate Fund through the United Nations Development Programme to support climate action programs.
In addition, the cabinet decided to recommend Aryal himself for nomination as a member of the National Assembly of Nepal and forward the recommendation to the President of Nepal.
Aryal also said the government has decided to coordinate with Nepali embassies in different countries to arrange rescue and management support for Nepali citizens affected by rising tensions in the Middle East.
