UML expels nine leaders including Rai

KATHMANDU, Oct 13: CPN UML scrapped general membership of nine leaders including Ashok Rai who quit the party to form a new ethnic party.



A standing committee of the party on Saturday decided to expel the party vice-chairman Rai and other leaders who had announced their dissociation from the CPN UML earlier this month. [break]



Those expelled leaders include Bijay Subba, Rakam Chemjong, Rajendra Shrestha and Ajamber Rai Kangmang, among others.



The meeting also decided that the party will not stand for the Constituent Assembly (CA) revival.
