Nepal to participate in 20th Asian Games Qualifier and World Championship

The 20th Asian Games is taking place in Aichi, Nagoya of Japan from September 19 to October 4, 2026. Tenzing Bertin Rai and Ronak Upreti will participate in the men's category and Swastika Chaudhary in the women's category in the competition.

KATHMANDU, April 3: The Nepali climbing team is scheduled to go to China on Sunday to participate in the 20th Asian Games qualifying competition and the World Championship. 



The 20th Asian Games is taking place in Aichi, Nagoya of Japan from September 19 to October 4, 2026.


Tenzing Bertin Rai and Ronak Upreti will participate in the men's category and Swastika Chaudhary in the women's category in the competition.

The Asian Climbing Championship will be held in Misan, China from April 8 to 12. Nepal will participate in the boulder and lead events.


Santosh Maden, General Secretary of Nepal Climbing Sports Association, stated that Nepal needs to be among the top 16 to secure a place in the Asian Games.


The World Climbing Series will be held in Kekiao, China, from May 1 to 3. The competition will include only the bouldering category. Maden said that players will be engaged in training during the interval between both competitions.


Ramcharitra Mehta, Member-Secretary of the National Sports Council, bid farewell to the Nepali team at a programme today and wished the team success.
