UCPN (Maoist) general convention from Feb 2

KATHMANDU, Dec 7: The long overdue general convention of UCPN (Maoist) has been rescheduled for February 2 next year in Hetauda. Earlier, the meet was slated for January 27 in Kathmandu.



A meeting of the party’s extended central committee held at the party headquarters in Peris Danda on Friday took the decision. The party’s general convention was last held two decades ago. [break]



A few months ago, the party had formed a committee to do necessary groundwork for the convention. Current party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has continuously remained at the helm for the last two decades.



As per the meeting´s decision, all representatives of the meet will have to contact the party by Feb 1. Likewise, the meeting has decided to conclude the party´s districts convention by January 23. However, it has made no decision regarding the state committees convention.
