A meeting of agitating doctors and health workers held on Thursday decided to resume the classes that were halted classes for the past three weeks after PM Bhattarai officially handed the suspension letter to Vice-chancellor Bhandari, said PAHS Registrar Krishna Bahadur Bhandari.
However, the meeting has decided to continue the protest until their principal demand -- the resignations of Bhandari and Bhattacharya -- is met.
"We have decided to keep the VC and Rector´s office rooms padlocked until they resign or be sacked," said Lila Raj Acharya, a member in the agitators´ committee. He said that the meeting also decided to end the sit-in protest, which had been continuing for the last one month.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Bhattarai, who is also the chancellor of PAHS, had formed a three- member committee to look into the dispute that had plagued the hospital for the last two months. The committee led by Prof Shiva Kumar Rai, a member of National Planning Commission (NPC), will submit its report in a week.
The doctors and health workers had launched a series of protests after VC Bhandari appointed Dr Bhattacharya as rector. They have been demanding an end to political interference in the hospital.
