KATHMANDU, Dec. 5: The Government has formed a three-member probe committee in order to resolve the ongoing problem at Patan Hospital.

The committee chaired by National Planning Commission member Prof. Dr Shiva Kumar Rai includes Health Secretary Dr Prabin Mishra and Education Secretary Suresh Man Shrestha.

The committee has been tasked with carrying out a study of the ongoing problem at the Hospital and present a report along with recommendations within seven days, said Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister, Krishna Hari Banskota.

Doctors and staff of Patan Hospital have been staging a protest since the past two months calling for resignation of Vice-chancellor of Patan Institute of Health Sciences Dr Sangita Bhandari and Rector Prof. Dr Soumya Bhattacharya.

The committee was formed after various rounds of talks held between the two sides failed to resolve the issue.
