Jananjati and indigenous leaders announced the newly formed party on Sunday amid a press conference in the capital. They said that the newly formed party would take full shape after holding its general convention within next three months.

SDP´s manifesto has four parts. In the introductory part of the manifesto, it has been claimed that the party has adopted the principle of federalism, social democracy, indigenism and pluri-nationalism.
The party has claimed that the characteristic of the state power has remained unchanged to date, with a particular class and race dominating the state power and politics.
It has stated that political parties, bureaucracy, civil society, media and intellectual society, which are dominated by elite and high caste, have stood against ethnicity-based federalism, right to self-determination, ethnic and regional autonomy.
The manifesto states that issues of indigenous peoples, Dalits, Muslims, Madhesi, backward class, and women are yet to be recognized institutionally as the Constituent Assembly (CA) was dissolved on May 27 without promulgating a new statute.
Addressing the press conference, Jananjati and indigenous leaders stated that SDP will be a party of indigenous peoples, Dalits, Muslims, Madhesi, backward class, Khas Kshetri and women.
They maintained that the newly-formed party will fight to establish democracy for the suppressed and poor by replacing the democracy that served the elite and rich classes.
The leaders claimed that their party will be committed to ensure the right to food, shelter, clothes, health, education and employment for the suppressed and poor communities.
According to them, freedom, equality, social justice, inclusiveness, human prestige and identity-based federalism, self-rule and right to self-determination will be major agendas of the party.
The SDP has said that the current political and constitutional crisis should be resolved as per accepted democratic principles. It has appealed civil society to take initiatives to find an end the present crisis in the country.
