KATHMANDU, Dec 7: For the second time, President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has extended the deadline for the formation of consensus government, by six days after his meeting with UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the former´s office in Shital Niwas, on Friday morning.

In a statement issued Friday, the President´s Office has asked the parties to come up with the consensus prime ministerial candidate and cabinet members under his premiership by Wednesday evening [Dec 12].

A meeting between the UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and United Democratic Madhesi Front on Thursday had decided to request the president for more time.

Dahal on behalf of the major parties reached Shital Niwas this morning and urged the president to grant the parties more time, apprising him about the four parties´ decision.

On November 29, the president had extended the deadline after the parties failed to name a consensus PM within a weeklong time period.
