KATHMANDU, Dec 7: The agitating political parties have called off their protest programs scheduled for Mangsir (December-January) in view of the changed political context, mainly following the president´s deadline for formation of a consensus government issued for the third time.

“We have decided to call off protest programs scheduled for Mangsir as the senior leaders have to engage themselves in the parleys to pick new prime ministerial candidate agreeable to all,” a statement issued after a joint taskforce meeting of the opposition parties on Friday reads. [break]

The opposition parties also vowed a breakthrough to end the present constitutional and political hurdles and pave a way out for the fresh Constituent Assembly election.

The agitating parties earlier this month had announced month-long protests aiming to unseating the present government.
