Speaking on the occasion, NAA President Shrestha expressed commitment to give more equipment in future. Karma Tshering Sherpa, the president of TIA management committee, said that nearly two dozen players of TIA had started playing archery. "Both boys and girls´ teams of the club shall compete in the 18-m archery tournament to be held shortly."
NPC signs Gurung
KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): Nepal Police Club (NPC) has signed teenage swimming sensation Sirish Gurung following his success in the recently concluded Second NSA Cup Open and Age Group Swimming Championship. Gurung, who broke five national records in the tournament, signed a one-year deal with NPC on Tuesday. The agreement was finalized on the initiative of Nepal Swimming Association (NSA) President Ashok Bajracharya and NSA General Secretary Jagatman Shrestha. According to Bajracharya, this is the first time in the history of Nepali swimming that a swimmer has been signed by a club. He said that the signing was a milestone and has filled the swimmers with optimism and hope.
Dhital, Gurung selected for Asian Swimming Championship
KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): Shreya Dhital and Sirish Gurung have been selected for the Ninth Asian Swimming Championship to be held from November 15 to 18 in Dubai. The two were selected by Nepal Swimming Association based on their performance during the recently held Second NSA Cup Open and Age Group Swimming Championship. Meanwhile, the two swimmers have also been selected along with Miraj Prajapati for the 11th FINA World Swimming Championship to be held in Istanbul, Turkey in December.
Mulmi in snooker semis
KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): National champion Saroj Kumar Mulmi advanced into the semifinals of the First London Open Snooker Championship on Tuesday beating his brother Sanjay 5-4 in the quarterfinal match held at the London Snooker House at Manbhawan, Kathmandu. Likewise, Prabin Shakya, Rajan Lama and Tashi Wangchuk also made it to the semifinals winning their respective matches.
Taekwondo team off to Malaysia
KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): A three-member Nepali taekwondo team left for Malaysia on Tuesday to compete in the Third Asian Universiade Taekwondo Championship to be held in Sabah state of Malaysia from October 11-13. Ayasha Shakya and Bishal Shrestha are the players representing Nepal in the women´s and men´s events respectively while Deepak Bista is the coach of the Nepali team, according to Purna Singh Bohara, president of University Sports Association of Nepal.
China to support Nepal in archery, wushu, boxing
