KATHMANDU: New Lira registered a 54-run victory over Princeton in the 4th Chief of the Army Staff Inter-school Running Cricket Tournament on Tuesday. New Lira won the toss and opted to bat first. With Manish Shrivastav´s 61 runs off 56 balls New Lira posted 124 runs losing five wickets. In chasing the total of 125, Princeton managed only 70 runs in 20 overs losing eight wickets. Chirag Mahipal took three wickets in his four-over spell conceding seven runs.
Daffodil into quarters
KATHMANDU: The hosts Daffodil ´A´ qualified for the quarterfinals in the senior boys´ category of the Fourth Daffodil Senior Basketball Tournament on Tuesday. Daffodil beat Valley Public 56-32 with the help of Kiran Sherpa´s 19 points. Meanwhile, Tenzing Choyang scored 20 points as HIMS defeated NIMS 61-52.
Xavier, NASA in girls´ final
KATHMANDU: Xavier International thrashed the hosts Gyanodaya 40-18 and NASA defeated Trinity College 39-20 to reach the final of the 16th Professional Gyan Carnival Inter-college Basketball Tournament in the girls´ category on Tuesday. Sima Karki contributed 22 points for Xavier. In the boys´ category, defending champions Prime College and National Campus advanced into the final.
Innovative, Neric enter semis
KATHMANDU: Innovative School defeated Little Angels´ 27-25 and Neric ousted Angels´ Heart 37-28 to reach the semifinals of the National U-14 Basketball Festival in the boys´ category on Tuesday. Innovative´s Ajay Kunwar contributed 15 points for his team while Sagar Basnet netted 18 points for Neric. In other games, Ideal Model and LRI also registered victories to book their places in the last four.
