KATHMANDU, May 21 : The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index declined on Thursday, falling by 12.36 points to close at 2,742.11.
The benchmark index had initially risen to 2,763 points within the first 15 minutes of trading before reversing its gains and ending the session in negative territory.

Most sub-indices, except mutual funds and trading groups, recorded losses during the day.
A total of 188 listed companies saw their share prices decline, while 72 companies posted gains. Investors in Upper Lohore Khola Hydropower faced the sharpest losses, with its share price dropping by 14.95 percent.
Despite the decline in the index, total market turnover remained active, reaching Rs 3.89 billion. Ankhu Khola Hydropower recorded the highest individual turnover of Rs 177.2 million.
