Film Journalism Day: Journalists awarded

KATHMANDU, May 22: The Film Journalist Association Nepal has presented different awards and prizes on the occasion of its 27th anniversary and National Film Journalism Day.



The association conferred the ‘National Film Journalism Silver Award’ on Ananta Wagle, which carries a purse of Rs 55,555. The ‘National Film Journalism Posthumous Special Award’ was presented to late Dinesh Sitaula, while the ‘National Film Journalism Award’ was given to Jayan Subba Manandhar and Kuber Raj Giri.


Similarly, it awarded the ‘National Film Journalism Prize’ carrying Rs 51,000 to Baikuntha Raj Parajuli, and the ‘Dinesh Sitaula Memorial National Film Journalism Prize’ carrying Rs 51,000 to Surakshya Bhattarai.

Likewise, the ‘National Film Journalism Encouragement Award’, carrying Rs 25,000, was presented to Milan Dhungana.


The chairperson of the Film Development Board, Dinesh DC, as well as other artists—Rajesh Hamal, Basundhara Bhusal, Bhuwan Chand, Karishma Manandhar, Nikhil Upreti, and Association Chairperson Samir Balami—presented the awards and prizes at a programme organised here on Thursday.


Artist Hamal said that journalism has further strengthened this sector at a time when the art field was not established as a profession when they started their careers.


Board Chairperson DC stressed the need to carry out activities for the promotion of the film sector in coordination with film journalism.
