SC issues interim order against National Olympic Committee Nepal

KATHMANDU, Oct 9: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an interim order against the National Olympic Committee Nepal (NOCN) led by Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan.



A single bench of Justice Bharat Raj Uprety on Tuesday ordered not to carry out any activities in the name of the NOCN until the apex court passes final verdict on the issue.[break]



Defying the SC´s order, Pradhan had filed application at District Administration Office, Doti for the registration of NOCN and was registered on August 7, 2011.



Earlier, the apex court on October 4, 2010 had ordered not to recognize the NOCN.



According to the Sports Development Act, 2048, the government cannot allow formation of parallel organization for the same profession. Similarly, any sports related organization, which is not registered at the National Sports Council (NSC), cannot hold any activities.



Member Secretary of the NSC Yuvraj Lama on Monday had filed a petition against the NOCN.
