NSU office vandalized by rival faction

KATHMANDU, Dec 27: A group of irate Nepal Students Union (NSU) cadres vandalized the NSU office at Dhobidhara, Putalisadak Thursday afternoon after their leader Kundan Raj Kafle was attacked by a rival faction at the Advanced Engineering College at Kupandole earlier in the day.



The agitating NSU cadres vandalized the office, accusing the establishment faction of attacking Kafle, a former treasurer of the Nepali Congress-affiliated NSU. "The office has been completely vandalized," said NSU Spokesperson U P Lamichhane.[break]



NC CWC member Nabindra Raj Joshi, who is also chief of the party´s Student Department, had reached Dhobidhara to inspect the damages from the vandalism.



Kafle was injured on the forehead in the attack that occured following preparations for a college convention in the absence of an authorized NSU representative. While the establishment faction claimed that Sudarshan Laudari was the convention representative, the irate faction said it was Indu Sharma.



"This was not a clash, but a planned attack" said a NSU cadre close to Kafle



Sudarshan Sharma and Bhishma Bhujel of the establishment faction were also injured in the incident, according to Lamichhane. While Kafle is rececing treatment at Norvic Hospital, the other two have been admitted to Alka Hospital.
