KATHMANDU, April 15: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) surged 33.27 points to close at 2,866.87 points on Wednesday, the first day of the Nepali New Year 2083.
The secondary market opened at 2,833.60 points and gradually increased to reach the day’s high at 2,879.16 points in around the first two hours. The market remained almost stable for the next hour, while it shed around 13 points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.
Nepse up for a fifth consecutive week
All the sectors have their market values incline. Hotels and tourism jumped by 251.64 points, the largest of all.
The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, also inclined 5.22 points. Daily turnover soared to Rs 10.53 billion from 8.66 billion.
Among the individual companies, 221 were the gainers and 45 were the losers. Shivam Cements Ltd had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 580.96 million.
Five companies including Ridge Line Energy Limited, Suryakunda Hydro Electric Limited, Hotel Forest Inn Limited, Sindhu Bikash Bank and Palpa Cement Industries Limited were the topmost gainers of 10 percent. Reliance Spinning Mills Limited with a decline of 5.61 percent in its market value was recorded as the highest loser.
