The Maoists have warned the project officials not to resume the work or face consequences. The developers were about to prepare detail project report of the around Rs 1 billion project, which is being developed by the the GMR Consortium.

The Maoists have submitted a memorandum about their action to the District Administration Office, Lamjung, Manang District Development Committee and to the Ministry of Energy.

"We objected the Indian investment as there is no Nepali investment and the locals are not allowed even to use electricity generated from the project," said Maoist district secretary Mohanhari Poudel. He also accused the developer of ignoring the concerns of project-affected people.
