Hom Bahadur Chaudhary´s decaying body was recovered from a pit on Thursday, 16 days after his abduction. Mother Rajpati has not eaten or slept to content ever since his abduction and is still in a fit. "What wrong had my darling son done?" she often mutters in semi-consciousness. [break]
Father Fulman is not faring any better. Far from consoling his wife, he himself is finding difficult to come to term with the loss of the only son. He had to return home leaving his job in Malaysia and faced the son´s body a week after arriving here.
Police have nabbed one Diplav Oli who has since admitted the crime. Oli has claimed that the murder was a revenge as his father Ram Bahadur was injured after falling at Chaudhary´s house.
Oli said he killed the child on the day of abduction on January 26 and started sending text messages to Chaudharys demanding Rs 1.5 million and gold a week later out of greed. Police have taken the whole family of Oli under control.
The neighbors are seething at the brutal murder while the whole district has been terrorized. There has been no trace of more than half a dozen persons abducted in the last couple of months and this murder has sent chills among the families of those abducted.
Private and Boarding School Organization of Nepal (PABSON) has called for closure of all private schools in the district on Sunday to protest the murder. Swargadwari Boarding School, where Hom Bahadur studied, will also announce compassionate leave for the students. "The students are terrorized after the murder of their colleague while guardians are also worried," said principal Giriraj Kunwar.
The Chaudharys and villagers alike want stringent action against Oli to ensure that other criminals are deterred from taking such a step in the future. "I lost my son but wish others do not lose theirs in such a fashion," Rajpati said.
