The decision was taken upon the recommendations of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA). On January 9, Parliamentary Committee for International Affairs and Human Rights had also directed the government to probe into Ansari´s alleged involvement and recall him, if found guilty.

APF AIG Thakur warned

KATHMANDU: APF Chief Sanat Kumar Basnet has issued a “strong warning” to AIG Thakur Mohan Shrestha for taking along AFP´s police band at a function in which a fake US based Greenford International University felicitated various political leaders with doctoral degrees a few months ago. The APF chief has taken the move as per the directives issued by the cabinet to seek clarification from AIG Shrestha. Such warning is considered stringent action in security forces as this bars the official concerned from opportunities such as command position, promotion, foreign travel and awards for a year.

SC sought evidence with STV

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday ordered Sagarmatha Television (STV) to furnish evidences on the basis of which the news report broadcsted by the TV channel recently claimed Chief Justice Ram Prasad Shrestha´s property details were fabricated. The CJ had made his property details public through SC´s website setting new record in Nepali Judiciary´s history. The news report had claimed that CJ possesses nine houses in Kathmandu, contradicting Shrestha´s claim that he owns only one house in the capital. “We have asked STV to furnish evidences that prompted it to challenge the CJ´s disclosure made public through SC´s website,” said SC Assistant Spokesperson Hemanta Rawal.
