Writ filed demanding strict law against banda

KATHMANDU, July 11: A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court on Wednesday demanding a stringent law against the organizing of bandh or shut down in any part of the Nepali territory.



In the writ filed by advocate Bhoj Bahadur KC, a demand has been made to the apex court to issue an order in the name of the Government to immediately bring a law through ordinance to ban bandhs in the country.[break]



The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Law and Justice have been named as defendants in the writ.



According to latest statistics, Nepal faced 128 days of bandh or strike at the nationwide, district and regional level between May 2011 to May 2012.
