“Following this, the police have already started interrogating the two,” Kaski District Police Office Spokesperson Rabindra Paudel told Republica. Police can keep the two in custody for up to 25 days.
The duo, along with Rajat Guruwacharya and Sanjiv Tuladhar, had opened a casino in Fulbari Resort and Spa around four years ago without obtaining permission from the government. As the offense came to the notice of the Ministry of Industry, the casino was shut down within months of coming into operation. The promoters of the gaming company then fled, without settling liabilities of Rs 45.72 million, including salaries of 300 staff members, rent and due amount on purchase of various foods, beverages and goods, among others.
Following this Fulbari Resort and Spa had moved the court. The court then issued a verdict in favor of Fulbari Resort and ordered the Kaski District Police Office to initiate necessary investigation into the promoters of the gaming company.
“Based on the verdict we issued an arrest warrant against the four in Baishakh (April-May),” Paudel said. “We were able to nab the two after searching them for nine months. We will also arrest the remaining two soon.”
If proven guilty, the four could get up to five years in jail and a fine of up to 150 percent of the claim amount.
