MORANG, Dec. 10: Around 12,000 students have been deprived of sitting in examinations due to strike launched by University teachers and officials at Purbanchal University (PU) for an indefinite period.

The University teachers and officials at the PU have launched agitation by closing all works at the central office for the past one week demanding appointment of registrar from university teachers and officials of PU.

Examinations of Management and Engineering faculty fixed to begin from December 9 were affected after 48 university teachers and 350 officials launched agitation by obstructing all works.

According to Examination Control Office, the examinations were postponed for the time being as there was no possibility to conduct examinations in the situation following meetings held with officials and university teachers were a failure.

The students on Sunday submitted a memorandum to the Chief District Officer Taranath Gautam, demanding that an environment to sit in examinations within 24 hours be created.

A student Gopal Neupane also said the students will also launch agitation if they were deprived of sitting in examinations.
