Prez gives parties six more days

KATHMANDU, Dec 7: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has extended the deadline for the formation of consensus government by six days after his meeting with UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the former´s office in Shital Niwas, on Friday morning.



A day earlier, the three major parties, the Maoist party, Nepali Congress, CPN-UML along with United Democratic Madhesi Front decided to request the president for more time after they could not name their common prime ministerial candidate as asked by the state head within the time frame. Dahal reached Shital Niwas this morning and urged the president to grant the parties more time, apprising him about the four parties´ decision. On November 29, the president had extended the deadline after the parties failed to name a consensus PM within a weeklong time period.
