KATHMANDU, May 7: Nepali national cricket team member and Nepal Police Club captain Aarif Sheikh has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Head Constable in the Nepal Police.
Sheikh, who was previously serving as a constable in the general police group, was elevated to the new post on Wednesday in recognition of his sporting performance and contribution.
The promotion was announced during a ceremony held at the National Police Academy, where AIG Siddhi Bikram Shah formally conferred the insignia of the new rank.
APF promotes 2,196 personnel within a month
According to officials, the promotion was made under Rule 39 of the Police Regulations 2071 (with amendments), based on a decision issued by the police headquarters personnel administration branch.
The Nepal Police said Sheikh’s advancement reflects institutional recognition of excellence in sports alongside regular service.
On the same occasion, sports equipment for the Nepal Police Club was also handed over ahead of the upcoming “Prime Minister One-Day Cricket Tournament 2026–27,” organized by the Cricket Association of Nepal.
The equipment was provided under an agreement between My Group UK and the Nepal Police Physical Training and Sports Education School.
