Started by all young people, the group members all worked together in the past and had experimented with bits and pieces of filmmaking. With the dream and hope of making that one good film, the banner was oneFIlM. [break]
"Starting was difficult," says Vikash Pradhan, producer of oneFILM."No one had the time to pursue it full-time or do a course or something. So we decided to learn it on our own and started our Cine Sessions, where we would meet and practice. As an amateur banner we thought oneFILM since all of us dream of making that ´one good film´ in our life time."
The Cine Session group consists of Vikash Pradhan, Tsering Choden, Laxan Kundan, Bipra Acharya, Alok Thapa, Suresh Limbu, Sunil Gurung, Anil Maharjan, Srijan Man Nakarmi, Usha Pande and Yubakar Rajkarnikar.
So far the group has attempted to produce almost eight videos and one music video. "So far it´s a strictly ´amateur´ effort. We have many miles to go before we actually make that ´one good film´. We see ourselves learning from our mistakes and improving. Our projects are getting more ambitious in terms of screenplays, plots and that is evident in the duration of our films. We´ve moved from three minutes to five to twelve plus now," says Vikash.
All of us dream of making that ´one good film´ in our life time.
Tsering Choden, winner of the Democracy is… Video Challenge organized by the US Department of State, said that being a part of Cine Session is great.
"We are where are today because of the group effort that we all have put in," says Tsering. Making movies are definitely time-consuming and tiring. Without any financial support, the group has been producing movies on their own which is an achievement in itself.
"We have most of the equipments and some we don´t even know how to use it, but we´re learning and that´s what we want to continue doing," informed Tsering.
As the young group of enthusiastic filmmakers see their work getting better, they are also thinking of submitting their work to various film festivals just as a means to get feedback on where they stand.
"Each one of our films is dear to us, but we would also like to see what others feel about them," explained Vikash. Tsering Choden´s entry in the Democracy Video Challenge and then winning it was an amazing and exciting experience for the group.
