Talking to a group of journalists in Baglung on Saturday, Singh said the threat has increased as India has started to interfere even in the appointment of the heads of various constitutional bodies in Nepal. Singh, who arrived in Baglung to participate in an orientation for the cadres of Rastriya Janamorcha Party, gave instances where India used some political actors to serve its interests in Nepal. "Currently, India has been using UCPN (Maoist) to serve its interests in Nepal," he said. "It is a blunder on the part of the Maoists to think that they will be weak without Indian support."
Singh also cast doubt over the possibility of the current ´party-less´ government holding elections. "There is no alternative to holding constituent assembly election to give outlet for the country," he said. "But UCPN (Maoist) itself does not want election now."
Though NC and UML also do not want election now, the UCPN (Maoist) is nursing desire to head the government itself before election by preventing the current Regmi-led government from holding election by mid-December. "The UCPN (Maoist) fears that it could turn weak if elections are held now," he said.
He also cautioned against giving the right to self-determination to the states under the federal system. "Countries like Nepal cannot afford to have federalism," he said, adding it is a weakness on the part of the current poll government to be unable to announce date for the fresh election.
