Police said the five were planning blasts in the capital after the government refused to hold talks with the group labeling them a “criminal group”. [break]
According to the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction, the group had made several attempts at dialogue but the home ministry turned down their offer for talks. The arrested are Singheswor Mahara aka Jaageswor of Sarlahi, Jeetendra Shah Rauniyar, Sitadevi Yadav, Madhusudhan Rijal and Gopal Mahara.
While Singheswar was a member of the team that held talks with the government last year, Jaageshwar was seen at the peace ministry on last Friday to make an attempt at talks with the government.
The home ministry says that it has been refusing to hold talks with such groups as many of them are carrying out criminal activities in the guise of a political group.
According to the police, while Gopal and Madhusudhan were arrested from Koshi Sangam Guest House at Gangabu, others were arrested from Indian Tanduri Restaurant and Lodge at Ramshahpath.
The cadres of the front were also involved in extortion in the capital, claimed the police. Police have seized detonators, explosives and letter pads from them.
