KATHMANDU, Dec. 3: The Youth Association Nepal (YAN), a sister wing of the CPN-UML, has warned of launching vigorous agitation if the dates for the local and parliamentary elections within April/May were not fixed.

Making public the decision of the recently concluded statute conference of the Association, its Chairman Mahesh Basnet said consensus government under the leadership of Dr Baburam Bhattarai was unacceptable.

The Association was all set to launch protest programmes aimed at toppling the present government, he added.

Stressing the need of forming a consensus government within the deadline the President has set, he said there was no alternative to a struggle if consensus was not forged.

The Association General Secretary Niraj Acharya said political parties would be proved insignificant if they failed to build a consensus on time.

The conference has decided to launch campaigns against corruption, crime and price-hike.
