Himalayan WhiteHouse College is also organizing one of such education fairs but they have put in some entertainment to make it a fun event for the students. Students can go to AlfaBeta in New Baneshwor to catch the fair.[break]
“Whitehouse EduFair 2012 is a two-day event on June 22-23 where students can learn about the courses available and also get to know more about Himalayan WhiteHouse College. We also wanted to entertain the students. So we have a food fest and live music for them,” said Nirupama Bashyal, Marketing Officer of Himalayan WhiteHouse College.
The fair was launched by Subekshya Khadka, Miss Nepal second runner-up and also a former student of the college.
As part of the fair, in the seminar that followed, presentations were made by Dr Upendra Koirala on the Prospects of Management Education in Nepal, Dr D.R. Kafle on the Paradigm Shift in Education in Nepal, and by Ashish Sigdel, program coordinator, Himalayan WhiteHouse College, on Prospects of Science Education in Nepal.
For the second day of the program, more events like discussion of ‘Post-SLC Dilemma,’ a few more presentations and unveiling of e-learning sites where students can get information on all the courses available in Kathmandu, the syllabus, past years’ questions and study materials.
The e-learning site will be powered by the college.
While entry to the fair is free, the food fest will cost a minimal amount for the students. At Rs 50, students can also get a temporary face tattoo.
Sporting a Minnie Mouse on her left cheek, Paridhi Jha, 15, says, “I missed the seminars because I was sitting for the entrance exams of Himalayan WhiteHouse College in the morning. I want to study commerce.”
Starting at 10 in the morning, the fair will go on till 5 pm. While Sanjeev Singh and Pramod Kharel performed their songs on the first day, Nima Rumba and Astha B are expected to perform tomorrow.
