A total of 153 educational institutions and consultancies are participating in the fair providing students a good look at the various courses they are offering. The education fair has managed to bring in many colleges from Nepal, India, Australia, and Poland offering courses in engineering, medicine, IT, hospitality and management under one roof. [break]
Palistha Shrestha and Alina KC, A-Level students of Lumbini International College, were visiting the fair with the intention of studying in Bangalore. Palistha, 17, said, “Both of us want to pursue BBM or BBA, so we’re just focusing on those institutions that provide these courses.”
Alina added, “We’re actually graduating next year but we thought it would be nice to look around the fair and see about the courses we’re interested in so that we’re prepared when we finally graduate.”
Similary, Anish Sharma, 17, from Kathmandu Model College and Sahil Bhatta, 17, from Rehdon College, were in the fair to find good colleges for Information Technology (IT). Anish was additionally interested in CA courses. He said, “We’ve visited around 15 stalls so far and we learnt about the different fee schemes. We’re hoping to find more consultants who can give us a clearer picture and advise us. We’re coming back tomorrow because we were told that ore consultants will be here.”
The title sponsor of the fair, The British College of Kathmandu, is presenting students with good scholarship schemes based on their performance each semester. Kelsang Dolker, a student of The British College, said, “The college is offering students 20% scholarship on admission if they have a score of over 80%. The top three students will also receive 100%, 50% and 25% of scholarship respectively for each semester.”
Students will also have the opportunity of interning in good companies.
“We have MoUs with many leading business houses through which we offer students internships and placements,” said Reena Shrestha, Admissions Officer. The British College’s main attraction is its affiliation to the University of the West England and Leeds Metropolitan University from the UK.
Apart from educational institutions, the fair also has Internet schemes and a free headphone worth Rs 3,000 on the purchase of a Micromax mobile phone.
The fair is scheduled to end Saturday.
Nagarik EduFair 2013 concludes
