Speaking at a program organized by the Reporters Club Nepal in the capital this morning, Yadav said Madhesi leaders’ major concern for now is timely completion of the peace process and constitution drafting. [break]
As such, Madhesi leaders are whole-heartedly open to hold any dialogue if an appropriate alternative is created to their long-standing agenda of one Madhes and one province, Yadav, also the acting chairman of the Madhesi People’s Rights Forum–Republican (MPRF-R), said.
“All we want is a new constitution with federalism within May 27. For that, Madhes is ready to make any kind of sacrifice,” Yadav said.
Making it clear that he is ready to take steps for larger national interest, Yadav said , “We don’t want to be Madhes-centric only. The country is in need of economic development and political stability. Madhes will not be an obstacle to it.”
He also called on major opposition parties, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, to join the government under Baburam Bhattarai, making it a national consensus government. This government itself is capable to complete the twin tasks of peace and constitution, he added.
He also expressed his hope that the peace process including the army integration will conclude in the next one week and that the new statute with federalism will be promulgated well within the May 27 deadline.
