UML plans month-long poll campaign

KATHMANDU, May 10: A central committee meeting of CPN-UML on Friday decided to convene a two-day gathering of its national council members to take their suggestions on major political issues in view of the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) election.



The two-day gathering is scheduled to start on July 19 in Kathmandu. The party has around 1,000 national council members.[break]



The meeting was wrapped up after endorsing the one-month-long “campaign for party organization mobilization in election-2070” that aims at making UML the largest party. The month-long campaign will start from May 17.



Among others, the campaign aims at launching special election-oriented programs in all the 240 electoral constituencies across the country.



The meeting also formed a taskforce headed by UML Secretary Shankar Pokharel to help the party´s student wing win more seats in the upcoming Free Student Union elections. Other members of the taskforce are Bishnu Rimal, Bhanubhakta Dhakal, Ghanshyam Bhusal and Yogesh Bhattarai.
