The body of veteran leader Thapa, who passed away in course of treatment in the New Delhi-based Medanta Hospital, last night, was brought to his residence at Maligaun in the capital in the evening.Former Prime Ministers Dr Baburam Bhattarai, Lokendra Bahadur Chand and Tulasi Giri, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party ( RPP) leader Pashupati Shamser JB Rana, RPP Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa, Nepal Rastra Bank first governor Himalaya Shamser Rana were at the Thapa's residence to pay tributes to the noted leader.
The government has decided to perform the last rites of Thapa with state honour and has declared public holiday on Friday.
Likewise, the government has announced putting the national flag at half-mast to condole the demise of the former Prime Minister.
Thapa's body would be kept at his residence in Maligaun till Friday morning and would be taken to the central office of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party in Chabhil at 10:00 am and then the body would be kept at Dhasharath Stadium till 12:00 noon for condolences.
The five times Prime Minister Thapa died in the New Delhi-based Medanta Hospital. He was 88.
Thapa's last rites would be performed at Pashupati Aryaghat on Friday itself, RPP Joint Spokesperson Kiran Giri said. RSS
