KATHMANDU, July 17: The Bagmati Provincial Government has reduced the number of ministries from 14 to eight as part of an administrative restructuring, while retaining all 14 ministers in the cabinet.
Following the restructuring led by Chief Minister Indra Baniya, six ministers have temporarily been left without departmental portfolios. They are Kiran Thapa Magar, Urmila Nepal, Bharat Bahadur KC, Suresh Shrestha, Jayaram Thapa and Binu Kumari Rayamajhi Poudel.

The provincial government said the restructuring aims to improve administrative efficiency and reduce government expenditure. Portfolios for the six ministers are expected to be assigned after the next Cabinet meeting.
Meanwhile, the province's political equation remains in flux. Discussions are ongoing over the future of the ruling alliance between the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML, while political parties are also exploring the possibility of a new power-sharing arrangement.
The final structure of the provincial government and ministerial responsibilities are expected to be announced after a consensus is reached at the central political level.
