KATHMANDU, Oct 15: Students will require TOEFL Test scores to apply for visas in Australia that will come in effect from November 5.

Hon. Chris Bowen, MP, and Australia’s Minister for Immigration and Citizenship approved of the equivalent scores that were identified by ETS research for the TOEFL test when compared to International English Language Testing System (IELTS) scores. [break]

TOEFL test has been the most widely accepted English language assessment in the world for 45 years, and it is recognized by more than 8,000 colleges, universities and agencies in more than 130 countries.

“We’re pleased that now Educational Testing Service (ETS) for the TOEFL test will be serving as an alternative English language test for student visa purposes,” stated David Hunt, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of ETS’s Global Division.

ETS was founded in 1947 as a nonprofit organization. It creates assessments based on research.

ETS also serves individuals, educational institutions and government agencies by providing customized solutions for teacher certification, English language learning, and elementary, secondary and post-secondary education, as well as conducting education research, analysis and policy studies.
