The students of Sarvodaya Higher Secondary School, Kanchanpur, disrupted vehicular movement along the highway for around three hours Tuesday morning demanding the resignation of their principal Mahendra Prasad Yadav. [break]Passengers were stranded from 7 to 10 am due to the strike.
The students called off their strike only after reaching a deal with the District Administration Office (DAO) and the District Education Office (DEO) of Saptari for discussing their issues and concerns. They have accused principal Yadav of irregularities in providing scholarships.
Earlier, the students had also smeared soot on Yadav´s face.
Yadav has dismissed the allegations of the students. He says some members of the School Management Committee (SMC) and teachers, who are apparently eying principal´s post, provoked the students to launch the strike.
He said he had also filed a written complaint at the District Police Office against those who smeared black on his face. “But, no action has been taken against them yet,” he says.
