In the men´s section, Shreeram Makaju of Nepal Police secured the second position. Likewise, Saroj Maharjan of Kathmandu and Devendra Karmacharya of Kavre jointly achieved the third position. [break]
In the women´s category, Nepal Police´s Sushila Adhikari finished second while Ranju Rai and Sarita Chaudhari of Parsa both stood third.
The winners were awarded Rs 7,000 while the runners-up and second runners-up received Rs 5,000 and Rs 2,500 respectively.
The championship was organized at the Multipurpose Martial Arts Center, Nayabazar, by the Nepal Judo Association in commemoration of its former vice-president late Ambika Bahadur Chhetri. Late Chhetri´s family sponsored Rs 150,000 for the championship.
Youth and Sports Minister Ganesh Tiwari Nepali inaugurated the championship and distributed prizes to the winners.
Title winner Deepak secured a bronze medal in the men´s 73 kg weight category of judo in the 11th South Asian Games that concluded recently in Dhaka.
Nepali team returns home
KATHMANDU, Feb 10: Nepali players and officials returned home on Wednesday after participating in the 11th South Asian Games, Dhaka.
Nepal bagged a total of 37 medals including eight gold, nine silver and 20 bronze medals out of the 23 events in which they participated. Nepal finished in the fifth position in the biggest regional sporting event.

National Sports Council Vice President Pitambar Timilsina, Acting Member Secretary Samim Miyan Ansari and other officials received the Nepali team at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
