According to Mahato, discussions on federal structure, system of governance, electoral system and form of judiciary would be held during the gathering.

"Each party is championing its own issues, but the gathering is intended to find a solution to the current problem facing the country," he added.

Mahato stated that the gathering would discuss the post-Constituent Assembly (CA) dissolution scenario and the way out of the current constitutional impasse.

He said about 450 leaders, including former lawmakers and representatives from ethnic groups, civil society, intellectuals, Dalit, Muslim and other marginalized communities, are expected to participate in the gathering.

"Participation of UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala and CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal has also been confirmed," Mahato said.

When asked if they have also invited pro-monarchy and anti-federalist parties to the gathering, Mahato said, "No, this is a gathering of pro-federal republic forces."

Mahato is scheduled to present a political paper at the opening session of the gathering. The paper would present his party´s views on federal republic.

He said that each participant would put forth his/her views on the current political deadlock and discuss ways out of the current impasse. "Following intensive discussions, the gathering will issue a declaration on Saturday," Mahato added.

He said foreign diplomats based in Kathmandu would also be informed about the declaration on Monday.

Madhes-based political parties, including SP, have been stating that promulgation of a new constitution from outside CA would be unacceptable to them.
