Soldier flees with Rs 700,000

DOTI, Feb 3: A Nepal Army soldier has disappeared with Rs 700,000 meant for paying the salary and allowances to soldiers.



Kumar Rana, a soldier, disappeared from Bhimdal Battalion with the money, according to a source.



Rana was apparently responsible for distributing salary to battalion members. Rana left with the money a week ago.



Rana, who is from Bardiya, had joined the army six years ago.



The battalion has taken his family members under control to trace him.
