JHAPA, June 13: A recent joint review meeting between Nepali and Indian officials was held in Birtamode, Jhapa, focusing on the protection, repair, and reconstruction of border pillars along the Nepal–India border.
Organized by the Border Section of the Department of Survey in Kathmandu, the meeting evaluated the progress of fieldwork conducted in the eastern border areas of Jhapa, Ilam, Panchthar and Taplejung. The joint team presented updates on activities carried out over the past three months, highlighting repaired and reconstructed border pillars.
Fifth meeting Nepal-UK Bilateral Consultation Mechanism held
The discussions emphasized the importance of regular meetings to address technical issues related to border demarcation and the safeguarding of border pillars.
Chief Survey Officer Hareram Yadav noted that progress is being made in line with the bilateral agreement on border pillar maintenance. He also said that decisions will be based on reports submitted by the joint technical team following on-site inspections.
