Satyam operates chartered flight using NAC aircraft

POKHARA, March 11: Pokhara-based Satyam Tours and Travels has started operation of charted flights using a Twin Otter of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC). The agency started operated the aircraft on Pokhara-Jomsom-Pokhara sector on Sunday.



The agency had signed an agreement with NAC earlier this month to use the aircraft when the national flag carrier has not scheduled flight.[break]



According to officials of Satyam, the agency will operate one flight a day on Sundays and Mondays and two flights on Tuesdays on Pokhara-Jomsom-Pokhara sector.



Although NAC is charging Rs 2,300 for one-way flight on Pokhara-Jomson route, passengers flying in chartered flights will have to pay around Rs 6,000.



Amrit Adhikari, director of Satyam Tours, said the company will be allowed to use the aircraft for a period of six months and that they were making payment on the basis of flight hours.



NAC is using its Pokhara-based Twin Otter to operate flights to Jomsom on Thursdays and Saturdays and Manang on Saturdays.



Satyam is eyeing Indian pilgrims visiting Muktinath as major clients on Pokhara-Jomsom flights. It is planning to operate flights on Pokhara-Bhairahawa and Kathmandu-Lukla routes soon.
