Speakers at the function praised the players for bringing home medals despite Nepal´s pitiable state of sports. Youth and Sports Minister Ganesh Tiwari Nepali admitted that Nepal is lagging behind in sports infrastructure but the players managed to bag medals in such adverse condition.
Meanwhile, the academy´s President Ramesh Silwal commended the players for doing their best. “Winning eight golds with limited budget and training is a great achievement,” he said.
Minister for Information and Communications Shankar Pokhrel said that ´sports is a base for amity´ at a time when we are emerging out of conflict. He stressed the need to make policy to encourage players.

Another influential leader of the CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli said that Nepalis can achieve a lot more if the government pays proper attention to sports and provides good opportunities to sportspersons.
He also requested the government to provide necessary treatment to taekwondo player Deepak Bista who created a historic record not only in Nepal but in South Asia by winning the fourth consecutive gold medal in the SAG.
He said that the Academy´s initiative to felicitate the players is to express their commitment for the development of sports. Oli was all-praise for the judo players who won medals even after being injured in the lift mishap in Dhaka.
Among the players, Bhagwati Thapa of Nepali women´s football team that won a silver medal in SAG, said that women have proved that they can also make the country proud. She further said that they can achieve more in the future if they are provided jobs and assured a secure future.
