BAGLUNG, Feb 5: Demonstrators vandalized and torched a police post at Hatiya VDC in the district Friday afternoon demanding that the killer of Sushila Sahani, a student who was murdered Tuesday night, be made public.

Students and locals damaged furniture, a television set and other goods inside the police post.

Police fired two dozen shots in the air and several tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. Four police and six demonstrators were injured in ensuing clashes.

Police have already arrested Dixon Malla and Sagar KC in connection with the incident.

The crowd entered the police post demanding that the two be made public.

The participation of students in the protests led to the shutdown of 40 schools in Galkot area of the district. The shutdown Friday affected some 15,000 students.

Police inspector Rakesh Singh said investigations are ongoing.
