According to the district administration office, police fired tear gas shells to disperse the Maoist cadres who were obstructing the distribution of citizenship certificates and collection of voters’ names, in eastern Surkhet, today.[break]
Purusottam Kunwar, the chief district officer informed that Maoist cadres clashed with police at around 11 am as the latter tried to chase away the Maoist cadres to end the obstruction.
According to the DAO, two policemen were hurt in the incident. Three of the Maoists cadres were also injured in the incident.
Meanwhile, Maoists cadres have been staging protest and chanting slogans against the four parties and the government in Jaher.
