Organizing a press conference in the capital on Thursday, PLA Sports Club President Santa Kumar Darai stated that 10 teams including three departmental teams -- Nepal Army Club, Nepal Police Club, APF Club of Armed Police Force, five regional teams and two teams of the host will participate in both volleyball and football. The tournament carries cash prize of about Rs 2.5 million. However, the Nepal Army has said it will not participate in the tournament organized by the PLA.
The army has been boycotting all the sports events that PLA has participated in the past. Sports department chief of Nepal Army Colonel Mindhoj Khadka said, "We are unable to participate in the games due to our internal preparations.
The organizers will provide the participating teams with track-suits, jersey, accommodation, fooding and transportation charges.
The top four teams in both men´s and women´s category in football will bag cash prize of Rs 300,000, Rs 200,000 and Rs 150,000 respectively while teams finishing first to fourth in volleyball-men and women team each will be awarded with Rs 200,000 Rs 150,000, Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000 along with medals trophies and certificates.
