KATHMANDU, Feb 15: On the occasion of its 7th anniversary, Nepal Telecom has lowered its network tariff in various services for two months. The discounted rate remains in effect from February 13 to April 12.

NT has heavily lowered SMS and 3G prepaid tariffs, while the landline telephone installation charge has been completely waived. On normal circumstances, the customers need to pay Rs 900 for installation of landlines. [break]

The telecom giant has also announced waiver of penalty for defaulters, if they clear outstanding dues up to July 2009 in the period. NT used to float such offers for defaulters in the past too. NT claims that such schemes were fruitful in recovering outstanding dues from defaulters in the past too.

Likewise, SMS charge in GSM and CDMA connections within NT network has been lowered to the Rs 0.62, down by 50 percent. Users of GPRS services are benefiting the most as the rates have been made cheaper by four times. Customers will now get 4kb data for a paisa.

"As per our pricing policy, creating competitive environment and giving services to the customers are our main objectives," Surendra Thike, NT spokesperson, told myrepublica.com.

Tariff rate for GSM 3G prepaid video call service has also been lowered to Rs 5 per minute. However, no changes have been made in charge for prepaid and post paid GSM connections, ADSL and ISD rates.
