The police rounded up around a dozen of women affiliated with different organizations from the program venue.

The pressure group had organized the program demanding stern action against the assailants and a fair investigation into the incident.

Sarita Giri, secretary of the pressure group, claimed that the police forcefully disrupted their program.

Meanwhile, the police said they had to intervene as the program was being organized at a prohibitory zone.

Chitwan Police Chief Dhiru Basnet said the women were injured after a clash erupted between them and police when the latter tried to resume traffic.
