Ncell reduces data tariff

KATHMANDU, May 16: Ncell - the first private mobile operator on the country has reduced rates of Ncell Connect data packages effective from Monday.



As per the revised rate, subscribers will be able to surf high speed internet starting from 40 paisa per MB to 80 paisa per MB depending upon packages available.



It will charge Rs 2 per MB of data for consumers who do not wish to buy data package. [break]Ncell has also removed validity limit on all packages.



Ncell has slashed the price of 5000 MB package from Rs 3,999 with a validity of a month to Rs 1,999. Similarly, it has reduced the price of medium package with 1000 MB data to Rs 699 and small package with 500 MB data to Rs 399. All the prices are exclusive of applicable taxes.



Announcing the revised rates at a press meet in the capital on Monday, Sanju Koirala, corporate communication manager of Ncell, said Ncell now wants to be the leading internet service provider in the country. She also revealed that the operator was working on to introduce high speed internet of 7.2 Mbps.



If Ncell upgraded its data speed, it will be the first operator in the South Asia offering high data speed of 7.2 Mbps.



“Internet has become a basic necessity. We are hopeful that this campaign would help customers get high speed data services anytime anywhere without any interruption,” added Koirala.



Ncell is the first 3G data service provider in the country. It had launched Ncell Connect in September, 2010.



Users can surf the net at High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) and 3G speed wherever in areas with Ncell´s 3G coverage.



“Our uses can still use Nell Connect through GPRS or Edge technology in areas where we don´t have 3G coverage,” said Koirala.



To use Ncell Connect, customers will need to purchase data card which costs Rs 1,999 and a data SIM costing Rs 99 with Rs 50 balance. Customers can directly start browsing after inserting the data card to the USB port.



Ncell currently has 3G coverage in 15 locations across the country, including all major cities.
